At Dura, we’ve always based the ethos of our brand around a strong history of design, taking what is often a cluttered and un-tidy workshop and transforming it into an organised, productive and efficient service centre. Whilst much of the basis of our creations is down to the flexibility and quality of our award-winning cabinets, without the unique skill and expertise of our experienced in-house design team, we wouldn’t be able to bring such advanced workshop creations to life.
To help give you a detailed understanding of how Dura’s commercial design team operates, we’ve taken a look behind the scenes to give you an in-depth view of each member of the team. Whilst each of our 4 strong design department has their own skills and areas of expertise, as a unit they work wonderfully together to create the workshops that Dura have become renowned for. With that in mind, here’s a look behind the background of our team and how they have helped to grow our flourishing commercial department.
Claude Berger - Project Manager
With an experienced background in Industrial Design, Claude is the leader of the commercial design team and oversees each of the projects we create. Known for his tenacity, drive and dry sense of humour, Claude excels in ensuring projects are specified and delivered on time and around each customer’s exact requirements. Whilst this will often involve creating drawings, quotes and product designs are expertly specified, a large part of Claude’s focus comprises overseeing other members of the team to ensure that standards remain consistently high.
Outside of Dura Claude has long been the considered the ‘green fingered’ member of the group because of his passion for growing a wide array of vegetables within his garden veggie patch. He also enjoys travelling whenever he can and has visited a number of far flung locations, with this year’s destinations of choice (which will also be his honeymoon) scheduled for New Zealand and Bora Bora.
Brett Shaw – Project Design Engineer
After studying product and system design, Brett joined Dura nearly 2 years ago, bringing with him a vast amount of experience in 2D CAD Design and 3D Image Rendering. Because of his previous employment history in the construction, motorsport and aerospace industries, Brett has developed an impeccable eye for detail, something that has proved to be an essential part of his daily project design tasks within our busy commercial department.
In addition to this, Brett’s knowledge of product design has become an integral part of Dura’s growth over recent years, working with other members of our Brackley and Plymouth teams to create a range of our latest product innovations. In his spare time, Brett has a penchant for all things on 2 or 4 wheels. He’s a keen off-road biker and has a big passion for old cars and motorsport, often seen travelling to work in his 1996 BMW M3.
Carly Bennett – Projects Coordinator
As one of the latest additions to the team, Carly joins Dura from an Interior Design practice in Wiltshire where she worked for a number of years on both domestic and commercial projects. Because of her background Carly brings a high-level of design flare to the team, helping to conceptualise the wide selection of automotive workshop designs that we work on for clients such as Audi, Aston Martin and Ferrari.
Within this position, Carly helps to visualise the setup of each workshop for our clients by producing a series of 2D and 3D designs of impeccable style. Because of this she has become an integral member of the team and has been essential in delivering higher spec projects over the last year. Outside of Dura, Carly spends a lot of time with her family and is a keen runner. Recently she has taken part in 2 marathons and over the next few years would love to compete in a triathlon.
David Chinn – Junior CAD Designer
As the youngest member of the team, David joined Dura nearly 6 months ago having built-up a wealth of 2D and 3D design skills working for his families catering supplies business. As a skilled designer with a HND in graphics, David works predominately on creating fantastic 2D CAD designs and 3DS MAX renders for future workshop projects. Whilst he may be the youngest, his expertise in CAD design is second to none and there’s nothing that he can’t do with a 2D block.
Outside of work, David has always had a keen interest in cars and can often be found hurtling around the Donnington circuit in his pride and joy, a 2.0L Renault Clio Sport. In addition to this he also has a love for turtles and one day dreams of swimming with his favourite animals around the Great Barrier Reef.
